Overview
INV-PCh series: powering and testing electrical equipment
INV-PCh series converters are designed for powering and testing traction and auxiliary electrical equipment of rolling stock: traction motors, auxiliary machines, control circuits and battery chargers.
Smooth regulation of output voltage and frequency reproduces any operating mode — from reduced run-in settings to rated and test conditions — while precisely holding the set parameters under load.
The converters are built as floor-standing cabinets with forced air cooling. The design is rated for round-the-clock operation in depot and repair plant environments, with all servicing performed from the front of the cabinet.
Applications
Application areas
One converter covers several process tasks of a depot or repair plant.
Traction motor test stations
Power supply for test benches during acceptance and post-repair testing of traction motors, with voltage and frequency regulation over a wide range.
Run-in of wheel-motor units
Smooth acceleration and running of wheel-motor units on run-in benches with controlled current, voltage and rotation speed.
Depot power supply of railcars
Stabilized voltage supply to railcars and trains during maintenance and repair without starting their on-board power sources.
Battery charging
Delivery of preset charging profiles for rolling stock batteries in workshops and at stabling positions.

Control
Functions and control
The microprocessor control platform ensures accuracy, repeatable operating modes and easy integration into the plant infrastructure.
- Microprocessor control system — digital stabilization of output parameters in all operating modes
- LCD operator panel — display of voltage, current, frequency and converter status
- RS-485 interface, Modbus RTU protocol — integration into depot automation and supervisory systems
- Event and fault log — parameter recording for analysis and service diagnostics
- Soft start and stop — no current surges or overvoltages in the load
- Remote control — operation from a remote panel or a higher-level control system
Safety
Protections
A multi-level protection system safeguards the converter and the equipment under test in any abnormal situation.
Overload and short circuit
Electronic protection instantly disconnects the output when the permissible current is exceeded or a short circuit occurs in the load.
Overheating
Temperature monitoring of power modules and the transformer with warning alarms and emergency shutdown.
Phase loss and imbalance
Continuous monitoring of the supply network: phase loss, imbalance and inadmissible voltage deviation.
Emergency shutdown
Emergency stop button and external interlock circuits, with the shutdown cause recorded in the event log.
