Traction converter service bench
A bench for checking, servicing and post-repair testing of high-speed train traction converters, with its own cooling circuit and DC link power source.
We will send photos and drawings of the equipment on request via the contacts page.
Equipment
Description
The bench is designed for servicing high-speed train traction converters removed from the train for overhaul or for replacement of power modules or DC link capacitors. On the bench the converter is checked under conditions close to those on the train — with the DC link at working voltage, under partial load and with its standard liquid cooling — so a repaired unit goes back onto the train without additional running-in.
The converter is placed on the bench's tilting fixture by crane or from a transport trolley, secured at its standard mounting points and rotated to a convenient working position. Hydraulic couplings connect it to the bench cooling circuit, which maintains the set coolant flow and temperature and allows the circuit to be pressure-tested for leaks. The electrical section of the bench includes an adjustable DC link power source, a load module, an insulation resistance tester and a measuring system that records currents, voltages and the gate driver signals of the power modules.
Tests run according to programs stored in the bench controller: insulation check, gradual application of voltage to the DC link, operation under load at a set frequency, verification of protection tripping and thermal behaviour under sustained load. A test report is generated automatically and filed under the converter's serial number. The bench is configured for the converter type of the customer's train series; for depots that maintain several series, interchangeable interface cables and hydraulic coupling adapters are provided.
Features
Design features
- Testing under load — The adjustable source and load module allow the converter to be tested at working DC link voltage under a partial load sufficient to verify the power modules, gate drivers and protections.
- Own cooling circuit — The bench maintains coolant flow and temperature and pressure-tests the converter's cooling circuit for leaks before testing begins.
- Tilting fixture — A converter weighing up to 2500 kg is rotated into a position that gives convenient access to the power modules and connectors.
- Automatic test programs — The test sequence is stored in the controller; the operator starts the program and the bench generates and saves the test report.
- Configured for the converter type — Interface cables, cooling adapters and the mounting dimensions of the tilting fixture are made to the documentation of the customer's series.
