Tram bogie tilter
A ring-type tilter rotates a tram bogie frame, or a bogie without its wheelsets, through 360° for defect inspection, cleaning, welding work and painting from every side.
We will send photos and drawings of the equipment on request via the contacts page.
Equipment
Description
The tilter is designed to rotate tram bogie frames — and bogies without wheelsets, with suspension and brake rigging fitted — during defect inspection, cleaning, weld repair, replacement of suspension parts and painting. The frame is clamped in two rotating rings and turned about its longitudinal axis, opening access to the lower and inner surfaces without crane operations or working in a pit.
The design is based on two rings on roller supports linked by a common shaft with a worm gearbox. Each ring has an opening for the frame to be brought in on rails: the frame enters the rings on a transfer trolley and is clamped by its longitudinal beams with screw stops, after which the trolley is rolled out, the rail inserts are removed and the rings are free to rotate. The worm gearing is self-locking: the frame stays in the set position when the button is released and when power is lost.
The standard version handles frames of up to 5 t with a wheelbase of 1500 to 2200 mm, including motor bogie frames of low-floor cars with longitudinally mounted motors. On the customer's request we supply hydraulic clamps with force monitoring, a set of interchangeable cradles for frames of different series, a transfer trolley for the depot's track gauge, a drip tray for collecting washing fluid and a version for use in a paint booth.
Features
Design features
- 360° rotation — The frame rotates without angle limit; it can be locked in any position, with standard stops every 90°.
- Rail entry — The frame is brought into the rings on a transfer trolley along a removable rail insert; no crane is needed in the tilter area.
- Self-locking worm drive — The load is held when stopped in any position and during a power failure; no additional brakes are required.
- Clamping by the frame — Screw stops with adjustable reach hold the frame by its longitudinal beams; interchangeable cradles for the customer's series.
- Low rotation speed — Smooth acceleration and braking from the variable-frequency drive eliminate jerks when turning a frame with off-centre brackets and fittings.
