Locomotive bogie roll-out unit
A powered transfer trolley with a self-propelled traction carriage for rolling bogies out from under a raised locomotive and delivering them to the bogie shop.
We will send photos and drawings of the equipment on request via the contacts page.
Equipment
Description
The unit rolls bogies out from under a locomotive body raised at the repair station and delivers them to the bogie shop without involving the overhead crane. The crane thus remains free for handling large assemblies, while bogies weighing up to 35 t are moved along a fixed path at a constant speed.
The core of the unit is a transfer trolley running on rails in a transverse trench that crosses the repair tracks of the shop. The top of the trolley carries a section of track with locking devices that aligns with the rails of the station. The bogie itself is moved by a self-propelled rack-and-pinion traction carriage: the rack is fixed along the rail on the station, the platform and the bogie shop track, so the carriage travels the whole route together with the bogie. It engages the bogie frame at its standard points and pulls it out from under the body onto the platform; the platform travels to the required track, the same carriage rolls the bogie onto the disassembly station, and after repair the bogie is returned under the body in reverse order.
The scope of supply includes a transfer trolley with two driven axles and a cable reel or conductor-bar power feed, a self-propelled traction carriage with its own cable reel and a set of grips for the locomotive series, rack sections for the station and the bogie shop track, trench rails with end stops and positioning sensors, a control cabinet and a portable pendant. On request the unit is fitted with radio control, a weighing system and automatic positioning at preset track addresses.
Features
Design features
- Crane-free operation — Bogies are moved between the station and the bogie shop along the trench; the overhead crane is not involved.
- Traction carriage — A self-propelled carriage on a rack pulls the bogie onto the platform and rolls it out onto the track; pulling force is adjusted to the bogie weight.
- Precise track alignment — Position sensors and mechanical locks align the platform rails with the station rails to within 2 mm.
- Grips for the series — The set of grips is manufactured from the drawings of the customer's locomotive bogies; a grip change takes a few minutes.
- Safe travel — Audible and visual warning during travel, limit switches on the trench, emergency stop on the pendant and on the trolley body.
