Brake equipment test bench for locomotive service points
Testing of driver's brake valves, distributor valves and relay valves removed from locomotives during running maintenance, with automatic data logging and a test report.
We will send photos and drawings of the equipment on request via the contacts page.
Equipment
Description
The bench is designed for testing pneumatic brake devices of locomotives that have been removed during maintenance or gave cause for doubt during brake tests. Driver's brake valves and independent brake valves, distributor valves, relay valves and pressure reducing valves are checked on it without sending the devices to the depot brake shop.
The device under test is mounted on an adapter plate and connected to the pneumatic panel of the bench. Simulator reservoirs reproduce the volumes of the brake pipe, auxiliary and equalizing reservoirs and brake cylinder, while electro-pneumatic valves run the required sequence of charging, brake application and release. Pressure at the control points is measured by digital sensors and the results are compared with the tolerances for the given device type. The bench is connected to the site's air network or to a separate compressor supplying at least 1.0 MPa.
The bench is operated from an operator panel: the test program is selected from a library by device type, and the progress of the test is shown as pressure curves. On completion a report with a pass or fail conclusion is generated, saved to the database and printed. The set of adapter plates is configured for the range of devices used on the customer's locomotive series.
Features
Design features
- Program library — Test sequences for each device type are stored in the controller; the operator picks the device from a list and starts the cycle.
- Digital measurement — Pressure sensors with 0.25 accuracy class replace reference gauges and eliminate reading errors.
- Report without manual entry — Values, hold times and the pass/fail conclusion are recorded automatically, tied to the device number and date.
- Fast changeover — Adapter plates with quick-release couplings allow the device type to be changed in a few minutes.
- Manual mode — For fault finding the operator can control each valve individually and watch the pressures in real time.
