Mobile platform for roof equipment servicing
A wheeled lifting work platform for inspecting pantographs, insulators and main circuit breakers of electric locomotives where no fixed roof gantry is available.
We will send photos and drawings of the equipment on request via the contacts page.
Equipment
Description
The platform provides access to the roof equipment of electric locomotives and multiple units — pantographs, main circuit breakers, surge arresters, bushing insulators and roof busbars — at sites where no fixed gantry is provided or where the gantry does not cover every track. It is rolled up to the required section, lifts the crew to roof level and is moved off the position after the inspection.
The 3000×1500 mm working deck is mounted on a scissor lift with an electro-hydraulic drive. Deck height is adjustable from 1.2 to 5.0 m and can be locked at any level; 1100 mm guardrails with toe boards and a hinged gate on the locomotive side close the perimeter. The wheeled base with swivel castors and parking brakes allows one person to move the platform across the floor of the service building.
Safety of roof work is ensured by an interlock: the deck can be raised only after the contact wire has been de-energized and grounded, which is confirmed by the trapped key inserted into the platform's control panel. The platform itself is grounded through a flexible conductor to the site earthing loop. On request the platform is fitted with a travel drive, battery power, an extendable gangway to the roof and tool racks.
Features
Design features
- Trapped-key interlock — Lifting is permitted only with the key from the grounding disconnector inserted — working under voltage is excluded by design.
- Smooth height locking — The hydraulic drive stops the deck at any point in the 1.2–5.0 m range; lock valves hold it in place if power is lost.
- Gangway to the roof — A hinged gate and an extendable gangway with handrails give a safe crossing from the deck onto the locomotive roof.
- One-person handling — Swivel castors and brakes let the platform be rolled to the next section without a crane or tractor.
- Autonomy — An optional battery pack provides a full shift of operation without a cable connection.
