Parts storage racks and transfer trolleys
Stationary racks with cradles, mobile transfer trolleys and cantilever systems for storing rolling stock assemblies and parts between operations in repair shops.
We will send photos and drawings of the equipment on request via the contacts page.
Equipment
Description
Racks and transfer trolleys organise the storage of assemblies and parts between repair operations: parts removed from rolling stock wait for washing and inspection, repaired ones for kitting and assembly. Properly designed storage keeps parts off the shop floor, prevents damage to machined surfaces and cuts the time spent looking for the right item. Such systems are in demand in bogie, brake equipment, coupler and electrical machine repair areas and in exchange-pool stores.
The range includes three types of structure. Stationary racks are assembled from posts and shelves with cradles whose shape follows the contour of the part: brake cylinders, air distributors, axle boxes, springs and coupler bodies rest in a fixed position and cannot roll off. Mobile transfer trolleys carry a set of parts from one station to the next, so assemblies do not have to be transferred to intermediate stands. Cantilever racks are intended for long parts — rods, shafts, pipes and sections.
The structures are sized to the actual weight of the parts stored and made of cold-formed and rolled sections with a powder coating. Cradles for parts with machined surfaces are lined with polyurethane or timber, and drip trays are provided for oily assemblies. On request the racks are fitted with location labels, removable stops and side rails, rotating cassettes for couplers and floor anchoring; transfer trolleys can be fitted with a drawbar for towing by an electric tug.
Features
Design features
- Cradles made from part drawings — The support surfaces follow the contour of the assembly, so the part sits stably, does not roll and does not rest on machined journals or seats.
- Sized to the actual load — Post and shelf sections are selected to the weight of the parts stored; the permissible load is shown on the label of every shelf.
- Transfer trolleys — A set of assemblies moves between washing, inspection and assembly on a single trolley; braked wheels hold it in place at the station.
- Location-coded storage — Labelled shelves and cells and colour separation of repaired and awaiting-repair parts simplify exchange-pool accounting.
- Drip trays for oily assemblies — Removable trays under the shelves holding gearboxes, axle boxes and dampers keep oil off the shop floor.
