Air receiver 4000 L
A large-volume central receiver for the compressor station of a locomotive depot or repair works, in vertical or horizontal versions rated for 1.0 and 1.6 MPa.
We will send photos and drawings of the equipment on request via the contacts page.
Equipment
Description
The 4000 L receiver is the central storage vessel of the compressor station of a locomotive depot or railcar repair works. It feeds the site's branched air network: brake test benches, blow-off and sanding points, pneumatic tools in the shops, cleaning and painting installations. The large volume covers surge demand when the brake pipes of several trains are charged simultaneously, without a drop in network pressure.
When the station runs several compressors, the receiver acts as a common buffer: it takes air from all units, evens out the pressure in the header and lets the station controller bring compressors on and off line according to actual demand. The lower zone of the vessel serves as a condensate sump whose level is monitored by a sensor, with discharge performed automatically.
The vessel is made of 8 or 10 mm sheet steel with elliptical heads and is supplied in a vertical version on a support skirt with an anchor ring, or in a horizontal version on saddle supports. A DN 450 manhole with a hinged cover gives access inside. DN 100 flanged nozzles are sized for connection to the station header; separate bosses are provided for the safety valve, pressure gauge, and pressure and temperature sensors.
The basic configuration includes a safety valve, pressure gauge, shut-off fittings and an automatic condensate drain. For outdoor installation the receiver is built with a heated drain assembly and a protective enclosure for the fittings; at the customer's request a condensate level sensor with a controller output, a second safety valve and a service platform with a ladder are added.
Features
Design features
- Covers surge demand — The 4000 L reserve allows the brake pipes of several trains to be charged at once without a pressure drop at the other consumers.
- Buffer for a multi-compressor station — A common vessel for several units evens out the header pressure and simplifies cascade control of the compressors.
- Two layout options — The vertical version on a skirt saves floor space; the horizontal version on saddle supports suits rooms with low ceilings.
- Condition monitoring — Bosses for pressure, temperature and condensate level sensors allow the parameters to be brought out to the station controller.
- Outdoor version — A heated drain assembly and a fittings enclosure allow the receiver to be installed outside the building at temperatures down to −40 °C.
- Service platform — On request the vertical receiver is equipped with a ladder and platform for access to the manhole and fittings in the upper part.
