Equipment

Description

The unit is intended for the diesel engine, electrical machine and wheel-and-gearbox shops of repair plants and large depots, where assemblies weighing hundreds of kilograms and more must be cleaned before flaw detection and repair: diesel engine blocks and crankcases, traction gearbox housings, traction motor frames and bearing end shields, compressor housings, assembled cylinder heads and covers. Ultrasound removes carbon, oil deposits and scale from water and oil passages that spray washers cannot reach.

Unlike tanks with transducers bonded to the outside of the bottom and walls, this unit uses immersible transducer modules — sealed stainless steel blocks mounted on the walls and bottom of the tank. Their number and placement are selected to the shape of the assembly, so the cavitation field covers the entire surface, including internal cavities. The solution is heated by an external heat exchanger and circulates through a filter and oil separator; level, temperature and cycle time are monitored by the controller.

The tank is a welded stainless steel structure with stiffening ribs and insulated walls, designed for the weight of the solution and the assembly. Loading is done with the shop overhead crane onto a removable cradle or into a grid basket; in the standard version the tank is set into a pit so that the rim is at a convenient height, or on a platform with stairs and guardrails. A hydraulic lid closes the tank during the cycle and reduces evaporation. The generators, pump station and control cabinet are housed in a separate module next to the tank.

To the customer's specification the unit is supplemented with an extraction hood with vapour discharge, a built-in jib lifting system for shops without a crane, cradles for specific diesel engine and gearbox types, and a rinse tank of the same size for two-stage processing.

Features

Design features

  • Immersible transducer modules — Sealed transducer blocks on the walls and bottom; their placement is selected to the geometry of the assembly, and replacing a module does not require dismantling the tank.
  • Assemblies weighing up to 2 t — The tank and cradles are designed for crane loading of diesel engine blocks and gearbox housings; the basket is for groups of smaller parts.
  • Cleaning of internal passages — Cavitation penetrates water and oil cavities and removes scale and deposits where a spray washer cannot reach.
  • External heating and filtration — The heat exchanger, pump, filter and oil separator are assembled in a separate module and serviced without stopping the tank.
  • Pit or floor installation — The tank is installed in a pit or on a guarded platform depending on the shop layout and crane availability.
  • Hydraulic lid — Closes the tank for the duration of the cycle, reduces evaporation and heat loss, and opens from the pendant before loading.
